Cibola boys, Kofa girls rule pool
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Cibola boys swim team scored 210 points to win a three-way meet against Kofa and Gila Ridge Wednesday.
The Kofa girls scored 98 to edge Cibola, which had 75.
Jake Kaba won the 500 freestyle and helped the 200 medley relay team, along with Andrew and Jacob Russel-Cheung and Jaron Boggs, to a first-place finish. And Cibola took first in the 200 free relay, with Kaba, Boggs, Colin Stiffler and Andrew Russel-Cheung making up the team. The same foursome won the 400 free relay.
For the Cibola boys, Jacob Russel-Cheung took first in the 200 free and 100 breaststroke, Colin Stiffler took the 200 IM, Mike Doering won the 50 free and Andrew Russel-Cheung won the 100 free and 100 backstroke.
For Kofa, Ryan Quesenberry scored 180 points to win the diving competition and Bert Grabinger won the 100 fly.
The Kofa girls were led by Katelyn Weddle and Tiggy Mitchell.
Mitchell and Weddle helped the Kings win the 200 medley relay. The team also included Kaelin Vining and Christa Patane.
Weddle took first in the 50 free and won the 100 breast by almost 18 seconds, with a 1:05.28.
Mitchell won the 100 free and the 100 back, and helped the 200 free relay team (Weddle, Patane and Drew Harvick) to victory.
Patane won the 200 IM and Vining took the 100 fly.
Cibola's Maggie McClure won the girls diving competition with 135.75 points.
